One of the most common candidates for a power wash is home exterior siding. Today, we’re giving you a look into the most common types of siding and what you need to know about having them power washed.
Vinyl
Up first is vinyl siding, one of the most common choices for modern houses and apartments. This material is made of durable plastic, making it ideal for weatherproofing homes. Vinyl is often used to imitate the appearance of wooden siding while maintaining the benefits of plastic. One of those benefits is easier maintenance– vinyl siding is one of the easier materials to keep clean!
Aluminum
Aluminum and vinyl siding are often compared due to their resistance to exposure and wear. The prices are very comparable, although aluminum is a bit cheaper. However, aluminum is also susceptible to dents and is a bit less thick than vinyl. With our low-pressure soft wash technique, you won’t have to worry about damage to either during cleaning.
Cedar
Wooden siding provides a unique and beautiful look for your home, bringing a lovely rustic charm to any building. Some high-pressure power washing poses a risk to wooden siding, as too strong a blast can damage the paint or even splinter the wood. Luckily, companies like us that use soft wash instead are fully equipped to avoid this issue.
Stone/Stone Veneer
Whether your siding is made of natural stone or manufactured stone veneer, we’ve got you covered. This gorgeous home exterior trend combines classic with rustic and is often used alongside other types of siding, resulting in a unique look. Faux stone or natural, both are beautiful and benefit from regular cleaning to keep their sparkle!
Asbestos
Asbestos siding is much less common on newer homes, but still exists on those built in past decades. This material does have the potential to be hazardous, but only if splintered or otherwise damaged. That’s why we take extra care when power washing homes with this siding and are dedicated to using soft wash, where detergent and skill does the heavy lifting rather than sheer force.
Stucco
Stucco is the whole package. Extremely durable, versatile, and even fire-resistant, this siding material is popular for a reason. It’s used in homes located within arid climates and paired with tiled roofs. While stucco is resistant to mold and mildew, even this siding superhero needs periodic cleaning. With proper maintenance, stucco siding can last more than fifty years.
Brick
Last but certainly not least, brick siding is a classic and comfortable look that has stood the test of time. It lends homes a traditional look and feel with a variety of colors while offering a measure of fire and noise protection. There’s a reason why old chimneys are made of brick! When your brick walls– or paths– get gritty, we’ve got you covered with proven power washing techniques.
