Spring is officially here, and that means a lot of wonderful things. Warm weather is here, we’ve finally moved our clocks forward, and it’s time for spring cleaning! Here are some of the home maintenance tasks we plan to take care of to get off to a great start this spring.
Power Wash the Exterior (Surprise!)
Our homes just went through a rough winter filled with rain, snow and wind. If your home isn’t popping as much as it has in the past, that is only expected. Luckily, a professional power washing will restore it to its former glory! Now that nicer weather is here to stay, we’ll be spending a lot more time outside, making it the perfect time for a power wash.
Daylight Savings Tasks
There are a few tasks that homeowners should take care of each time daylight savings starts or ends. Since we just sprang forward, be sure to complete these tasks if you haven’t had the time just yet:
- Replace heating and HVAC filters
- Change your smoke detector batteries and ensure it is functioning
- Check your fire extinguishers and ensure they are still ready for use
Preparing the Yard for a Bright Spring
Now is the time to be proactive with yard maintenance! Putting in some maintenance work now will set our yards up for growth throughout the spring and summer. Here are the key things to take care of in your yard this April.
Tune Up the Lawn Mower
Our lawn mowers have been in hibernation for several months now, and it’s finally time to wake them up and ready them for use once again. Changing your lawn mower’s oil is a great way to maximize its lifespan and keep it reliable throughout the year.
Clear Out Plant Beds
It’s the perfect time to grab your gardening gloves and remove debris from the garden. If you notice any dead perennial growth from last year, you can also feel free to trim it back to clear the space for new growth. Finally, you can get to work adding fresh compost and mulch!
