If you’re someone who likes to buy household goods in bulk, we’ve got good news for you! Dish soap serves as a remarkably flexible multipurpose cleaner, and today we’re outlining seven of its uses for dish soap beyond the kitchen sink.
Car Washes
Don’t want to spend the extra cash on a professional cleaning? Need to coordinate a charity car wash for your kids’ school? Squirt dome dish soap into a few buckets and turn on the garden hose to work up the suds! There are precious few stains that can’t be defeated by a soft bristle brush and/or sponge.
Grease Stains
If someone spills something greasy at dinner, add a drop of dish soap to the stain before it sets. This counteracts the grease in a way Oxyclean or other stain treatments can’t and will make your job a lot easier when laundry day rolls around. You can also use dish soap as a replacement for laundry detergent when hand washing any delicates.
Tile Floors
From laminate to tile, hot water and dish soap will get your kitchen and bathroom floors clean in a snap– especially if you’ve spilled something greasy. It’s an effective and safe alternative to bleach, and especially useful if you’ve got little ones running around.
Composite Decks and Fences
There’s no such thing as maintenance-free, but even the toughest stains can be defeated with soap and water! Just like the way we use a pressurized stream of water and detergent mix when power washing, you can attack tough stains on your composite or synthetic fencing and decking with dish soap and water. You can also clean your patio furniture in the same way while you’re at it.
Windows
Windows aren’t much use if they’re too grimy to see out of! Dish soap and plenty of warm water saves the day yet again, cleaning the interior and exterior panels of your windows when Windex or regular glass cleaners just won’t cut it.
Oil Stains
As if working magic on fabric wasn’t enough, dish soap can also counteract oil stains on your concrete driveway or garage floor. Just cover the stain with baking soda, add some dish soap, scrub, and let it sit for a few hours. Rinse everything off and repeat if necessary until the oil stain has been banished.
Carpet Spills
Last but certainly not least, dish soap works wonders on carpet stains. Dip a clean cloth into a little soapy water and blot the stain (avoid rubbing). When more of the stain is on the cloth than the carpet, sponge the spot with cold water and pat it dry with a clean cloth.
Now that you are aware of other uses for dish soap, we hope these tips help you keep your home squeaky clean and clear of harsh cleaning chemicals!
